About Jodie

Hi, my name is Jodie-Anne and I began teaching yoga in 2012.

Before stepping into sharing teachings of yoga I was taking a moment of pause, timeout raising my two girls after running my own small businesses Interior Design & Upholstery in Sawtell.

I love Yoga because I always walk away feeling peaceful & vibrant. There is always something to uncover & tune into. It has given me the ability to really sit with what is, sometimes confronting other times refreshing. Yoga has increased my ability to take inspired action.

I’ve been able to combine my love of travel & adventure by creating yoga retreats both internationally & here on the north coast of NSW while being there for my children.

If I had the opportunity to go back and talk to my 20-year old self, I would tell her to go for it, you will love it, you can fulfill your dreams of travel & adventure whilst making a difference in the world. What I hope to achieve with my business and my practice at Yogashack is to help our community to express more of what they love in the world.

When I look to my students, no one ever walks out the same as when they arrived. A yoga practice can shift your mindset, move energy for healing, unwind tension, strengthen your body  & can help you expand beyond self-imposed limits & erase outdated beliefs.

As a teacher I am in an honorary position to observe the changes, hold space for the unfolding of someone’s journey back towards optimum health & wellbeing so that they can move more vibrantly through the world & that fills my heart with joy.

Something people may not know about being a yogi is that it creeps up on you!  As human beings, we are having an experience through our own lens (eyes). Sometimes our lens is clouded, and it has a direct impact on the way we see & experience our external world. Yoga is a method for polishing our lens so that we can see with clarity & navigate change.

When we move physically with intention & attention the way we see & experience things begins to change……it creeps up on you! A consistent yoga practice has the potential to not only tone your body & calm your mind but can also magnify within you a more unified way of moving through the world.

If I wasn’t a yogi, it’s likely I’d be planting trees :-)

With love, Jodie

What People Are Saying

“Jodie is the ‘Real Deal’ She simply embodies yoga……and with every class I am gifted with not only a remembrance that my true practice begins when I get off my mat, but also a fitter body & a calmer mind that enables me to do so. So much love & gratitude for all that you are & all that you bring. Keep shining that light dear one.”

“Jodie's classes are beautifully sequenced & designed so that everyone is able to come to their level. She is warm & gracious, encouraging & clear in her instruction making it a gradual progression to the next stage of a posture. And of course explaining that it doesn't matter if we don't so we have a lot of fun too, which I love! Jodie has been a stand for me as a new student & new to the area 6yrs ago through my yoga journey to becoming a teacher myself & having her full love & guidance there also. Jodie is an inspiration to myself & others to live the precious modality of yoga on & off the mat.I am blessed to step into the Yogashack 3 nourishing mornings a week”

Jodie helps others by creating an inclusive space for all bodies at all levels. The space is warm & welcoming & gives you room to rest or play depending on how you are feeling in that moment, giving you a chance to grow or heal. Her guidance makes you feel as though you are always in control of your practice & gives you the strength & insight to move at your own pace. Jodie's studio feels like a home away from home.
